Church’s Lumber Yards, a company rich in family history was founded by Calvin Church in 1890 in Utica, Michigan. At the time, the family owned business was dedicated to supplying lumber, coal, and feed which was loaded by hand and delivered by horse and wagon.
The company expanded operations through World War II and ultimately had a chain of retail stores throughout southeast Michigan. During the 1990’s, the proliferation of big box stores prompted Church’s to focus on contractors and new construction projects.
At the present time, the company operates stores in Auburn Hills and Lapeer Michigan, both of which have showrooms filled with product displays. The yards are stocked with rough and finish lumber along with windows, doors, roof trusses, engineered wood, building hardware and cabinetry.
